Chainmonsters, a game inspired by The Legend of Zelda and Pokemon.

One of the upcoming blockchain games that I am really bullish is Chainmonsters, a game inspired by The Legend of Zelda and Pokemon. I am currently playing its alpha version.

Chainmonsters is a massive multiplayer online RPG where players catch, battle, trade, explore, and combine different types of monsters and abilities to create their own style of play.

Here are some of its features:

Catch over 135 unique Chainmons with diverse traits, types and abilities. Combine into multiple Squads for various occassions.

Story-based campaign. Join the N-Corp agents and discover the mysterious disease that is affecting Chainmons across the land.

Dungeons and Raids challenge those that are eager to dive deep into the world and defeat special Raid bosses.

Dynamic day/night cycle not only alters the visuals but also has gameplay effects.

Players can explore the vast lands of Ancora together with their friends. Players will be competing against each other. Every player is an agent working for a corporation. There’s a mysterious disease that makes all creatures more aggressive, and there’s a weird crystal in the world. Guess who needs to find out? But can players trust the corporation? Who knows.

Players will need to acquire all kinds of little monsters. Some of them can only be found in certain regions, others only for a limited time. These monsters come from different elements, nine in total. These are generally home to a certain island or region: pyro, hydro, nature, electro, air, cryo, geo, and crystal.

Each of those monsters has several basic attributes: health points (HP), attack, defense, elemental attack, elemental defense, speed, and stamina points (SP). In addition, each mon has individual values for each stats, which means that mons can have different stats even though they look the same.

On top of that, there are traits. Each monster has up to two traits. Most of them start with one and will learn a second one as they level up. For example, arcane intellect increases the critical hit chance, while haste increases the speed gain on a level-up. There are also traits that increase the attack power, while others decrease certain stats.

Currently, the game is still in its alpha stages and will move to beta tentatively next month. Early users can purchase an alpha pass to start playing the game. The alpha pass comes with free 25 rare NFTs can be used in the game or sold. The game also opened its marketplace today.

Chainmonsters uses the Flow blockchain, a blockchain conceived by the team behind CryptoKitties. The Flow blockchain is also being used by NBA Top Shot, Animoca and Ubisoft. The alpha version of the game can be lplayed on Desktop and mobile. It is also planned to be released on Steam next year.
