The San Diego Padres bullpen has been having a hard time the last number of games but they are obtaining some help tonight in the form of Adrian Morejon, who is obtaining placed on the active lineup for the first time this season. Drew Carlton, that last pitched on Monday, is being returned to El Paso. Last year Morejon started the season on the IL because he was recovering from Tommy John surgical treatment. Then when he was on the pile he couldn't remain on it, as he went on the IL a pair of different times, that included a job at the end of June with left shoulder inflammation. Morejon made five postseason appearances and permitted three or even more runs in 2 of those getaways. In four trips with Triple-A El Paso this month he allowed just one run in seven innings of work. Carlton had the ability to give some valuable innings for Bob Melvin yet the Padres likely believe Morejon is a better alternative right now considering his upside and the fact that he's a left-handed reliever.
