Enjoy a day with these best Brisbane clubs

For those times when a kebab shop just won’t cut it and top 40 dance beats on repeat bore you, there are a few good options. One is The Brisbane Club, an exclusive private club that has been upholding excellence for over 100 years.

Many of the city’s best nightclubs are clustered in Fortitude Valley. The Met has three levels, five bars and four dance floors and hosts the hottest DJs in town. Here are a few of the best Brisbane clubs that offer you an unforgettable experience.

Prohibition

A glamorous, roaring 20’s-style speakeasy has opened in Fortitude Valley, bringing the fun of illegal drinking to the modern age. With a nod to the romanticized era of flappers and bootleggers, Prohibition offers a labyrinthine experience, where illicit spaces showcase recycled materials fused with raw modernism.

This basement-level club is divided into four areas – each with their own take on the prohibition theme. The Blind Tiger, for instance, is a snappy filament-in-bottle lit chamber that serves up house cocktails on tiger marble countertops. Wall Street, meanwhile, is a more mature area that offers table service from staff in suspenders and risque flapper dresses, plush communal seating, opulent decor and a large collection of premium spirits.

Queensland lifted its COVID-safe restrictions last Friday (3rd July) and Prohibition was one of the many bars and clubs to reopen its dance floors. However, the Fortitude Valley venue has been slapped with a $20,000 fine after footage emerged of people appearing to ignore social distancing laws and dancing shoulder-to-shoulder.

The club is adorned with LED tubes that light up the crowd in the most enchanting way. There’s also a VIP booth area with bottle service available for those wanting to enjoy the club in style. The dance floor is fast-paced and high energy, with a mix of old-school and new-school DJs pumping out the tunes. Prohibition is the perfect place to enjoy a night out with your friends, a special occasion or just to try something new.

GPO

The renowned GPO in Brisbane is one of Australia’s best-known day and night entertainment precincts. It boasts three rooms, each with their own unique sound and style. Guests can dance, relax and party all night long! The venue is suitable for all ages. It offers a range of services, including guest lists, VIP booths, smoking areas, exclusive toilets and wheelchair access. It also offers a wide selection of drinks, from classic cocktails to alcoholic beverages.

The historic site was purchased last year by the Gold Coast-based hospitality group behind Cali Beach Club and Surfers Pavilion, which has undertaken a massive $9 million renovation. The company says it has retained all of the building’s original features and has teamed up with heritage architects, local builders and interior designers to meticulously restore the site.

Artesian Hospitality has kept details hush-hush regarding the direction of the building’s revamp, but they have revealed some teaser info on the three venues that will open in the reimagined GPO. In June, elevated restaurant TAMA will be unveiled along with upscale bar and lounge The Gatsby.

TAMA will occupy the ground floor and mezzanine level. The contemporary high-end eatery will feature soaring ceilings and double-story windows. The space will be adorned with modern accents of soft furnishings, stone and marble flooring and considered greenery that complement the building’s original beams and custom chandeliers. Executive chef Richard Ousby (formerly of Quay Sydney and Stokehouse Melbourne) is at the helm.

Nomads Bar

Nomads Bar is a great place to sip cocktails and enjoy the view of Brisbane. The drinks are reasonably priced and the service is fantastic. The staff is also very friendly. They even know how to speak French, which is a plus for tourists. They also serve excellent food. The only downside is that the place is pretty small, so it can be difficult to have a conversation.

For backpackers looking to party, there is no shortage of bars and clubs in the city. The hippest place for nights out is Fortitude Valley, but there are plenty of great options for all budgets throughout the city. There are many bars that host live music, so if you love music, make sure to check out the local music scene at Lefty’s Music Hall and Brooklyn Standard.

There are also a number of great rooftop bars in the city. Down Under Bar, better known as 'Dunder' is a popular hub of backpackers and locals mingling on the dancefloor. It is open every night of the week and gets packed quickly.

Another great option is Dandy's Rooftop Bar, which has a quirky vibe and offers great drinks at a fair price. You can also check out Eleven Rooftop Bar, which is located in the heart of Fortitude Valley and features 270 degree views of the city.

Skyroom

Whether you’re looking to dance, listen to live music, or relax in the sun, you’ll find what you need at Skyroom. Located in the heart of Fortitude Valley, Skyroom is a small bar with an intimate atmosphere and friendly staff. It’s the perfect place to hang out and meet new people. They also have a great dance floor and play some of the best DJs in Brisbane.

Brisbane’s enviable subtropical climate is one of its biggest draws, and the city’s rooftop bars and restaurants offer the ideal vantage point for soaking up the views. Whether you’re planning an informal after-work drinks event or a sophisticated gala, here are some of the best rooftop bars in Brisbane.

GOMA’s rooftop terrace offers stunning views of the CBD, as well as protection from the elements (in case you have to deal with Brisbane’s occasional rainy day). The space is a playground for contemporary culture, with an elegantly crafted menu that showcases local produce.

Located above iconic Fortitude Valley venue Cloudland, Lina brings the feel of a Mediterranean beach club to the city. The breezy terrace features Instagram-worthy infinity pools surrounded by poolside daybeds and sunken lounges, as well as a chic indoor/outdoor restaurant with out-of-this-world food. The drinks are just as luscious, with freshly brewed craft beers and tasty tapas to keep you going all night.
